Specific Learning disability is defined by the Act as “a disorder one or more of the basic psychological processes involved in understanding or in using language, spoken or written, that may manifest itself in the imperfect ability to listen, think, speak, read, write, spell, or to do mathematical calculations.” As is clear by the definition, there are several ways in which a specific learning disability can manifest itself. The website set up by the Minnesota Department of Education is quite extensive. Not only does it contain a breakdown of the different ways a specific learning disability may manifest, it also contains and extensive scientific researched-based intervention strategies. The website also offers different resources from several national agencies and coalitions, so there is much to explore and implement into the classroom.
